For services that include any type of cornrows*āincluding feed-ins and stitch braidsāyou now have the option to upload an inspo photo!
This helps me better prepare for your appointment and ensures that youāre booking the correct service and add-ons. It also helps prevent any confusion or last-minute changes. While uploading a photo isnāt required, it is highly recommended!
Also, starting this month, the Saturdays that we are closed will now be listed in this newsletter. The newsletter will be posted on the 22nd of every month when the new month opens for booking.
*excluding braid down for wigs/crochet
Cool or Room temperature is best! When conditioning your hair, unless otherwise stated in the instructions, it is best to rinse your hair out in cool or room temperature water.Ā Rinising in cool water seal (or closes) the hair cuticles to protect damage, prevent striping of natural hair oils and add shine and locks in moisture.
šļø Don't wait to bookĀ
I hope you all enjoyed your spring break (or at least the kids š) As previously mentioned, The Crystal Effect is closed every other Sat. For the Month of April we will be closed on the 4th and the 18th.Ā
Hey there, Beauties!
I hope this newsletter finds you well! There arenāt any service updates or major changes to discuss, BUT āš¾ there are a few important things Iād like to bring to your attention.
We all know that hair braidingāespecially when done rightāis time-consuming. As clients, I know you want your service to go as quickly and smoothly as possible. However, Iāve noticed that sometimes (and honestly, often), phones can become a distraction during your appointment. I completely understand wanting entertainment, but please rememberāIām trying to do your hair!
It can be frustrating having to redo parts or repeatedly ask you to hold your head up. There are also times when I catch myself leaning or adjusting in ways I shouldnāt, which puts unnecessary strain on my body. As a stylist, thatās something I have to be mindful of. So I'm politely asking that you either keep your head up Ā ( and hold your phone up) or put the phone away during your service. Imagine how uncomfortable it is to hold your phone up at eye level, that's the same discomfort x2 that you are asking me to deal with because I'm leaning over trying to see the top of your head!
Also, pleaseāPLEASEādo not wear hoodies to your appointment.
Iād also like to address appointment bookings and changes. It is very important that you book exactly what you want, including any add-ons. Booking a basic service and then requesting additional services or major changes to your style at your appointment is not appropriate, and in most cases, the answer will be no. If I have another client scheduled right after you, I simply donāt have the extra time. Also you can't book medium size parting, and then ask it to be "fuller" at your appointment, if you want more braids then book more braids ie: smaller parts. Please know that what you see on my site (including social media) is what you get, I do not post work of others stylist, and on the off chance that I do it, it will explicitly state that! So when you book medium size braids and there is a reference photo beside it, thats exactly what you are booking and will receive, this includes the length.
Additionally, I ask that you please take the time to read the booking site. A lot of effort goes into creating itāitās designed to answer your questions (literally almost all questions) and make the process as smooth as possible for you. So when I hear, āI didnāt read the site,ā it can feel dismissive, and yes, it is a bit frustrating to me.
If youāre unsure about anything, please read through the site first. If you still have questions, youāre always welcome to book a consultation.
As a reminder, I am a one-person team. I do not take calls or hold conversations while servicing clients, and I am unavailable after business hours.
Everything shared here is coming from a sincere place. Itās not to call anyone out or make anyone uncomfortableāI simply want to ensure a comfortable, respectful experience for both of us.
Thank you all so much for your continued supportāit truly means everything to me!
As always I thank you all, even just for the consideration, for sharing my business with friends, coworkers, and family members! You literally make this business possible and I thank you so much!
With love,
Crystal
